On March 26, 2025, a launch meeting for four building materials industry standards—"Interior Building Decorative Materials with Humidity Control Function," "Determination Method of Bio-based Carbon Content in Building Materials," "Inorganic Phase Change Plate," and "Test Method for Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Building Materials"—was held in the first-floor meeting room of the Green Building of the China Building Materials Academy of Building Research in Beijing. The meeting adopted an "online + offline" mode.
On March 26, 2025, a launch meeting for four building materials industry standards—"Indoor Building Decorative Materials with Humidity Control Function," "Determination Method of Bio-based Carbon Content in Building Materials," "Inorganic Phase Change Plate," and "Test Method for Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Building Materials"—was held in the first-floor meeting room of the Green Building of the China Building Materials Academy of Science and Research in Beijing. The meeting adopted an "online + offline" mode, with more than 30 representatives from research institutions, testing units, universities, and enterprises, including Shanghai Hengyuan Polymer, Qixian Nuclear Technology, National Inspection, Beixin Group, Nippon Paint, Akzo Nobel, Covestro, DIMEI, Wacker Chemie, Beijing Building Materials Research Institute, Hebei University of Technology, Changchun Quality Inspection Institute, Jianyan Testing, and Shandong Weifeng, attending the meeting.
the day of the launch meeting of the four standards for the building materials industry
The meeting was chaired by Wang Jing, Secretary-General of the Environmental Friendly and Healthy Building Materials Standardization Committee, the responsible body for the four standards. Professor Ji Zhijiang, chairman of the Standardization Committee, attended and delivered a speech. In his speech, Professor Ji Zhijiang emphasized that the four standards are all key directions for national technological innovation during the "14th Five-Year Plan." Among them, inorganic phase change plates and humidity control materials focus on building energy saving and indoor environment optimization, while the determination of bio-based carbon content and electromagnetic shielding effectiveness tests target the technical gaps in the field of new materials. He pointed out: "The formulation of standards needs to closely follow the "dual carbon" strategy, solving both common industry problems and leaving room for enterprise innovation."
Zhao Chunyan, Zhang Jinjun, Wang Yongchao and Xie Shuai spoke in turn
The meeting conducted in-depth discussions on the compilation progress, technical indicators, and subsequent plans for the four standards. According to the agenda, Zhao Chunyan, senior engineer of the China Building Materials Research Institute, reported on the preliminary work of the revision of the standard for "Indoor Building Decorative Materials with Humidity Control Function." Dr. Zhang Jun of the China Building Materials Research Institute reported on the preliminary research of the industry standard for "Determination Method of Bio-based Carbon Content in Building Materials." Wang Yongchao, senior engineer of the institute, reported on the industry standard for "Inorganic Phase Change Plate." Xie Shuai, deputy director of the Environmental and Healthy Building Materials Institute of the institute, reported on the preliminary work of the industry standard for "Test Method for Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Building Materials." After each standard drafter's report, discussions were held with the attendees on the draft content.
Shen Yuehua, the general manager of Shanghai Hengyuan Polymer Materials Co., LTD., expressed his thoughts on the theme of the meeting.
During the standard discussion session, representatives from enterprises and testing institutions put forward many suggestions based on their actual needs. For example, Shen Yuehua, general manager of Shanghai Hengyuan Polymer, put forward many specific suggestions on the setting of evaluation indicators, sample preparation, and classification of different product thicknesses in the humidity control interior decoration standard. Dr. Yang from Covestro suggested that the standard for the determination of bio-based carbon content should clearly distinguish between the concepts of "biomass addition" and "carbon sequestration contribution" to avoid market confusion. Jiang Shan, general manager of Qixian Nuclear Technology, combined his company's advantages in the preparation of high-precision mass spectrometers, and provided many suggestions for experimental verification to the bio-based carbon content test standard. Jia, an engineer from the National Inspection Group, suggested unifying the calibration methods of testing equipment and strengthening the inter-laboratory comparison mechanism to ensure data consistency. Attendees offered many good suggestions from different perspectives.
Wang Jing, the secretary-general of the Standardization Committee, is summarizing the follow-up work of the four standards
Finally, Wang Jing, Secretary-General of the Standardization Committee, summarized the subsequent work of the four standards, hoping that more enterprises and professionals would participate in the formulation of these four standards. She requested that the standard drafters make good progress plans, collect experimental verification samples as soon as possible, carry out experimental work, and complete the standard revision work on schedule and with high quality.
