Is there a problem with the test method for desiccants?
Many people, upon receiving desiccants samples, immediately want to test the desiccant's moisture absorption effect. Often, however, they find that the desiccant's moisture absorption effect is far from what we promised. Is there a problem with the desiccant's moisture absorption effect, or what exactly is the problem?
Is it desiccants that the testing method is problematic?
Incorrect method 1: Many customers say that desiccants absorb moisture, so they can be directly thrown into water, and after a few hours, see if they have absorbed enough water.
First, desiccants achieve their purpose of maintaining the space by absorbing moisture (humidity) from the air desiccants The usual environment in which desiccants work is not liquid water; the target object is incorrect.
Second, high-quality desiccants use waterproof and breathable packaging materials because desiccants absorb water vapor from the air, not liquid water. If the desiccant is directly thrown into water, under the action of liquid water, the water should not be able to penetrate the waterproof and breathable packaging material; otherwise, if water can enter, it can also seep out (similar to a sponge), thus losing the desiccant's inherent moisture absorption and anti-seepage function.
Third, after the desiccant absorbs moisture, the moisture should be adsorbed desiccants inside, and there should be no water on the surface. If you take out a desiccant that has been soaked in water, it will definitely drip water. This also shows that the testing method of directly soaking the desiccant in water to absorb moisture is incorrect.
