Most desiccants can be used in containers, but their dehumidification effects vary. Hengyuan polymer desiccant is recommended. New and old customers are welcome to inquire.
A shipping container is a large cargo container with a certain strength, stiffness, and specification, specifically for turnover use. It is also called a cargo container in different regions, and is generally translated as "container" in English. Shipping containers can be classified by manufacturing material into steel containers, aluminum alloy containers, fiberglass containers, etc.; by the type of cargo loaded into dry cargo containers, liquid containers, refrigerated containers, and other special containers, as well as by size and structure.
A desiccant is a substance that can remove moisture from moist substances. It is generally translated as "desiccant" in English. There are many types, generally divided into two categories: chemical desiccants, such as calcium oxide (quicklime) desiccant, which undergoes a chemical reaction to become slaked lime after absorbing water; and physical desiccants, such as silica gel, which adsorbs water vapor through the microscopic pores inside the silica gel without undergoing a chemical reaction with water. According to the composition, they can be classified into silica gel desiccants, montmorillonite desiccants, molecular sieve desiccants, calcium chloride desiccants, calcium oxide desiccants, fiber desiccants, etc.; different desiccant raw materials also have different packaging materials, such as non-woven fabrics, mesh paper, and some PE, PET composite materials, plastic boxes/barrels/bottles, etc.
With the rapid development of global economic trade, the vast majority of goods transported around the world are currently loaded and transported using shipping containers, and most of these containers are transported by sea.
However, during ocean transportation (long-term intercontinental rail transport will also have the following phenomena), containers often experience high humidity marine climates and large diurnal temperature variations. During the day, the high-temperature air rich in water vapor sealed inside the container, due to the decrease in temperature at night, the water vapor reaches supersaturation, and the water vapor inside the container will condense into water droplets on the inner wall of the container, which is commonly known as "container rain" " (If the goods are sealed, under the effect of temperature difference, the water vapor that cannot evaporate inside the goods packaging will condense inside the packaging material). This liquid water will seriously affect the goods or the outer packaging of the goods inside the container, easily causing metal rust or oxidation, cardboard to become soft and moldy, and a black mold layer to grow on wooden boxes, etc.
In order to solve the problem of goods getting damp, people have adopted different methods and measures, one of which is to use desiccants inside the container, which is the origin of container desiccants. By now, I believe everyone should have a general understanding of container desiccants. Therefore, container desiccants should be understood as a general term for substances used in containers to remove moisture from the air.
Apart from industry restrictions and limitations of the chemical properties of the desiccants themselves, most desiccants can be used in containers, only the dehumidification effect is different. Recommended Hengyuan polymer desiccant, welcome new and old customers to consult.
