If you pay close attention, you'll notice that many clothing packaging bags now contain a small packet of desiccant, regardless of whether the clothing is sold domestically or internationally. Normally, desiccants can be found in the packaging of various clothing items, including T-shirts, jeans, dresses, and leather jackets. Clothing generally has a much higher water content than products like metals or electronics. Leather clothing, in particular, requires a larger amount of desiccant.

Clothing has a much higher water content than typical metal or electronic products. Leather clothing requires even more desiccant. The high water content in clothing makes it susceptible to mildew, so moisture control is crucial. Unlike other products, any moisture damage to clothing is direct, such as discoloration, wrinkles, and deformation. These issues can turn the most fashionable, newly designed garments into clearance items.
For moisture-sensitive products like clothing, we recommend implementing moisture control measures throughout the production, storage, and transportation processes to minimize moisture exposure. During production, select fabrics and accessories with lower water content whenever possible without compromising the quality or design of the garment. This significantly reduces the water content of the fabric and prevents moisture problems.
Moisture control during storage is equally important. Many clothing companies place a small packet of desiccant in the packaging to keep the clothing dry. Hengyuan desiccant, a professional polymer desiccant for clothing, is far more effective at absorbing moisture than ordinary silica gel desiccants. For fabrics with high water content, using ordinary silica gel desiccants would require a larger quantity. Even brand-new silica gel desiccants only absorb up to 20% moisture and maintain their absorbency for only about a week, making them unsuitable for storing clothing with high moisture content.
