Desiccants are a general term for products that use the adsorption of water vapor from the air to reduce environmental humidity, thereby achieving the purposes of moisture-proof, mildew-proof, and rust-proof. I. Composition of desiccants: The packaging desiccants we usually refer to are bagged desiccants. They include three parts: raw materials, packaging materials, and barrier packaging.
What is a desiccant?
Desiccant It is a general term for products that use the method of adsorbing water vapor in the air to reduce environmental humidity, thereby achieving the purpose of moisture-proof, mildew-proof, and rust-proof.
I. Composition of Desiccants
The packaging desiccants we usually refer to are bagged desiccants. They include three parts: raw materials, packaging materials, and barrier packaging.
1.1 Introduction to Raw Materials
Silica gel
Silica gel is a transparent or translucent spherical or block-shaped granule. It has balanced hygroscopicity at high and low humidity, stable chemical properties, low dust, and a pH of approximately 4-5.
Blue indicator silica gel
Blue silica gel has similar moisture absorption capacity to ordinary white silica gel and can display its moisture absorption status. It is blue when dry and pink when wet.
Cobalt-free indicator silica gel
The color is orange when dry and green when wet.
Montmorillonite (MT)
Montmorillonite is also called bentonite, bentonite, active clay, or clay. Montmorillonite also has similar properties to silica gel, and its moisture absorption rate at low humidity is even better than silica gel. Montmorillonite is a natural mineral material, non-polluting, non-corrosive, with a pH of about 7, and much cheaper than silica gel.
Molecular sieve (MS)
It has the highest moisture absorption performance at low humidity (<30%RH).
Stable chemical properties.
The price is higher than silica gel and montmorillonite.
High-hygroscopic desiccant
It has ultra-high moisture absorption capacity at high humidity.
Contains calcium chloride and must not be in direct contact with the product (such as metal, food, machinery, etc.).
After moisture absorption, it will become a gel-like substance.
